The 7th edition of Food Fest exists …
to help the neediest members of our borough
Michael Applebaum, Mayor of the Cote-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grace (CDN—NDG) borough, is very pleased to announce that the 7th annual Food Fest will be held in the CDN—NDG borough on Wednesday, July 23.
Once again this year, the CDN—NDG borough is organizing a non-perishable food drive to help out recognized food distribution and assistance organizations for people in need. On the morning of July 23, over 1,700 young people from local day camps will be collecting generous donations of food on certain streets in the borough, where residents will have received notices inviting them to donate non-perishable food items. All donations will be stacked on street corners and picked up for delivery to the NDG Food Bank and the MultiCaf community cafeteria in Cote-des-Neiges, two organizations that help many needy families in our borough.

At lunchtime, Maple Leaf Farms will be treating the children and their monitors to a barbecue in Van Horne and Benny parks, where there will also be entertainment. That evening, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., there will be inflatable games for young children in both parks. Then a movie will be shown in Benny (English and French) and Van Horne (French) parks for the children and their parents, as well as friends and local residents. The price of admission is one non-perishable food item per person. We hope to see lots of you there!

Food Fest is made possible by a number of partners, including the NDG Youth Committee, the NDG Outing and Sports Club, Jeunesse Benny, Loisirs sportifs Cote-des-Neiges, Prevention NDG, the CDN Maison de jeunes, and the borough’s partner organizations holding local day camps.

“Food Fest exists in order to help the neediest members of our borough. We are joining forces to collect food items for those who are unable to feed themselves properly,” says Mr. Applebaum.

Mayor Applebaum invites everyone to give generously and encourages you to leave your donations at any of the drop-off points listed below.
