Spreading the Gospel of Music
Spreading the Gospel of Music
This past Friday's Mad Monk Cafe capped a season of 7 unique concerts in NDG covering a wide range of music styles and stories. The event boasted a packed house and people were treated to everything from Bach's Air and Bourre all the way to the Beatles and CCR, up to and including a mini blues set and a performance of "All Along the Watchtower" featuring a Ukulele plugged in to a Wahwah pedal!

The Mad Monk Cafes for 2009 are already in development and The Monitor will keep you posted. In the meantime, organizer George Toufexis will be concentrating on completing his next series of recordings with original songs and arrangements. On Grey Cup Sunday morning November 23rd, Deacon George will be preaching at Madison Baptist Church, at 10:45 a.m. Those interested in a morning of music and thought provoking ideas can drop by.

The Mad Monk Cafe is situated on the northeast corner of MADison and MONKland in NDG in the lower hall of Madison Baptist Church. Admission and refreshments are always free of charge. Seen here are fiddler Peter Purich (well-known session musician in Montreal) and Deacon George (on the right) at last Friday's "Soup to Nuts" concert.
